Extra Curricular clubs

Clubs provide children with a fantastic opportunity to enrich and enhance their learning experiences. We offer a range of clubs, which allow children to follow their interests, or experience something for the first time. All clubs can be booked via the Arbor App.  

 

 

Booking Club Places 

Registering a child for a club using the Arbor app or the Parent Portal is a simple process. Please note, if it is your first time logging into the Parent Portal, you will need to confirm the child’s date of birth before being granted access.

Boo Theatre & Entertainment are delighted to be running the Drama Club for the Spring Term. Boo Theatre is run by Jake & Becky - both professional actors with over ten years’ experience & a true passion for teaching & introducing others to the arts.

 

Both Becky & Jake have an array of professional credits between them (The Gruffalo West End, UK and International Tour, Cartoon Network, BBC Doctors, Rapunzel UK tour, CBBC UK Tour and the Olivier Nominated show ‘Oi Frog & Friends; (West End & UK tour). - to name a few and both have performed professionally all over the world.

Alongside exploring and developing Drama skills such as Improvisation, Mime and Movement

Diction & Projection, Use of imagination & Characterisation - we also aim to enhance key life skills such as self-confidence, the importance of teamwork, public speaking and reading.

Work fine motor skills and imagination to build amazing things with these bricks. At Newport, LEGO club is not just about playing with LEGOs. LEGO club is all about making your ideas come to life and the great sense of achievement that comes with it. Being a part of the LEGO club is also a great opportunity to develop social skills as children often communicate and work together to make something amazing. We also develop our public speaking and presentation skills, as at the end of each session, children are encouraged to show their creations to the rest of the group and talk about what they have made.

Ms. Nessa brings to Newport School this ancient art of using henna to create designs. Children will use henna to create their own designs to wow and thrill their family and friends. In this club, the children will develop their fine motor skills to develop their intricate designs. In this club we learn different techniques which are effective for body art. Cookery Club will develop basic knowledge such as food hygiene and safety, as well as cooking skills which include chopping, peeling and baking. We will cook seasonal recipes such as a warming winter soup; pancakes and an Easter treat. Ms. Perridge, Miss Kelso-Mason and Miss Arthur will be leading the sessions on a rotation, we look forward to cooking up a storm with you on Tuesdays!

Wee Movers

Founded by Fiona Campbell, Wee Movers offers playful, energetic children’s dance and yoga classes in east London and beyond. Combining contemporary dance with yoga, the classes are a fun introduction to movement where children are encouraged to explore and express themselves in a warm and supportive environment. 

Sessions include a warm-up to music, gentle stretches, storytelling and adventures, imagery, games, dance techniques and lots of opportunities for children to create their own movement.

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and throw! You will need all of these for this club. Dodgeball is a fun, fast paced game open to everyone. Our PE specialists will take you through all the steps to become a dodgeball champion. In Dodgeball, moving as one unit and working together is a major key to victory. Children are taught how to dodge, duck, dip, dive and throw while working together for the common goal. Players quickly learn that working together with a plan makes it hard for the opposition to penetrate their defences and resist their attacks!

Fencing club provide a unique mix of physical, mental and social stimulation. Musketeers Education programmes excel at teaching children the art of friendly confrontation and conflict resolution in a safe, meaningful way. Inspired by the Olympic sport of fencing, we aim to create a holistic approach to early-child skills development. 

The sport’s highly strategic, disciplined and physical nature– both on an individual and team level - requires gross and fine body coordination while, simultaneously, strategising, concentrating, being creative and resilient. Truefitt Collective are partnered with The Institute for Creative Mindfulness and exclusively deliver Dancing Mindfulness workshops to Primary Schools in the UK.

Artistic Director, Kasia Truefitt has undertaken training with Dr Jamie Marich in London and Los Angeles and Truefitt Collective have partnered with the Institute to exclusively offer Dancing Mindfulness to Primary Schools in the UK.

In our Dancing Mindfulness clubs, children learn and practice Mindfulness skills that can be used in everyday life, while also engaging in creative dance as a means of introducing, experiencing, and deepening their understanding of Mindfulness.  

The aim is to teach children about mindfulness and movement exercises that help reduce stress and anxiety and give them tools to understand and manage their emotions.

Mini Duke is an award scheme inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh Award and aimed at primary students that encourages the development of valuable life skills. Challenges include mastering skills such as first aid, ICT, art, drama, music, sport, cookery, amongst a variety of other experiences. The skills gained through taking part in the Duke Awards are valuable for pupils both in school and in later life. Pupils will gain confidence, independence, resilience and adaptability when embarking on the challenges within each level.
